THE CLUB STRUCTURE

Tavistock Golf Club is a Members Club, with the principle aim of providing a golf and social club amenity to members of the public and the local community. Full details of the structure and running of the Club are contained in the Club Booklet which can be accessed on the left. A list of the current Officers of the Club is on the Captain’s Notice Board.

CLUB NOTICE BOARDS

There are noticeboards located in the entrance hall of the Golfclub. These contain information for members about the club, club competitions and events.

CLUB COMPETITIONS

The Club runs numerous competitions throughout the year which are shown on the Competitions and Diary Boards as well as in the Members area of the website. 

The Club also runs a number of "Opens" which allow non-members of the club to play, subject to eligibility and entry criteria. All Open competitions are held withe the club office and can also be found on the Opens page of the website.

HANDICAPS

All playing Members are expected to hold & maintain a Council of National Golf Unions (CONGU) handicap. New players are expected to gain a handicap, preferably within six months of joining.  A handicap is required if you wish to enter any competitions at Tavistock or other clubs.

THE GOLF COURSE

Status of the Course and access restrictions can be found on the Course Noticeboard, situated at the rear entrance to the Club.

All players, Members or Visitors are asked to remember that the course is partly within Dartmoor National Park and the land is owned by the Town Council, which means it is public access space. Dartmoor Commoners have grazing rights over the area, so it is very common to find animals around the course. This adds greatly to the character of Tavistock Golf Club and experience shows they do not impact our ability to play the course. Many walkers will also be found around the course, enjoying the open spaces and scenery Dartmoor has to offer. Walkers have priority and all players are asked to respect all such users of the land.

PLAYING GROUPS

There are a number of groups within the club who organise their own “playing times” however there are also several roll-ups to which new members are welcome to join in.

There are also recognised sections within the club for Gentlemen, Ladies, Vets, Lady Vets and Juniors. More information on these can be found on the website and on the club noticeboards.

The staff in the Pro Shop or Club Office are also very willing to help with introductions to the various sections or roll-ups or tp help new members find playing partners in the Club.

NEW MEMBERS EVENINGS

These provide a welcome and introduction to the Club. They are intended to  be informative and tell you how the Club and golf is run and functions. You will also be able to meet a selection of Committee members and others who may have joined at the same time as yourself. They are run on an ‘as needed’ basis.  For more information, contact the Club office.
